Sales response quality is measured internally by speed, because speed is the part a system can see. Everything else is invisible from inside, including whether the reply read like it had been sent to someone in particular.
What to put in the public brief
- Which channel, and that they must stay reachable
- Whether a phone call may be involved
- Roughly how many days
- That the scenario will be supplied
- That no purchase or commitment results

What to put in the private instructions
Give a realistic scenario with a real constraint
A budget, a timeline, a specific requirement. A vague enquiry gets a vague reply and tests nothing.
Ask them to fill the form honestly against that scenario
And to record exactly what they entered, so you can check whether the reply used it.
Ask them to respond once, then stop
One reply, then silence. What arrives after silence is the follow-up sequence, and that is usually the part nobody has read.
Ask whether price was ever mentioned
Unprompted. The number of enquiries that never receive a price without being chased surprises most teams that measure this.
Proof worth requiring
Ask for
What they submitted, screenshots of every reply with timestamps, and one line on whether they would have continued the conversation.
Do not ask for
Recordings of phone calls. Consent rules vary by jurisdiction and by party, and written notes are sufficient for everything you need here.
When this task type is the wrong tool
If enquiries are not reaching the team at all, that is a routing or deliverability problem and an email rendering check or a form test will find it sooner.
If you want to know why prospects who did talk to you said no, ask them. This measures the response, not the offer.
